A bleak scene in the depot yard at 85A Worcester a few short weeks before the end of steam on the bulk of the Western Region. At the forefront of this picture is GWR 57XX Class 0‑6‑0PT No. 9626 a resident of 85A since September 1965 which is standing out of steam amidst frost‑covered sleepers.

A lone spotter makes his way past begrimed GWR Hall Class 4‑6‑0 No. 6923 Croxteth Hall, from 81F Oxford and bereft of nameplates, in a somewhat deserted yard at 82E Bristol Barrow Road shortly before closure. Croxteth Hall survived in service at 81F until the end of 1965.

A sub‑shed of 82F Bath Green Park
Despite the air of desolation with rusting and weed‑strewn tracks a steam engine lurks within the dark confines of Radstock, a sub‑shed of 82F Bath Green Park. The inmate is LMS ‘Jinty’ Class 3F 0‑6‑0T No. 47506, of 82F, which survived in service until the end of the line for the former S & D route from Bath closed in March 1966.
